In November 2023, our CEO and co-founder, Nikunjkumar Sanghani, traveled to Shanghai, China, as part of a delegation organized by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI), under its Global Connect initiative. The trip was built around ITMA ASIA + CITME 2023, the 8th edition of Asia’s leading textile machinery exhibition, held at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre from November 19th to 23rd. Spanning 160,000 square metres across six halls, the exhibition brought together roughly 1,500 exhibitors from 23 countries, covering every part of the textile manufacturing value chain — from spinning to finishing, recycling, and testing.
“We didn’t go to Shanghai to showcase what we build — we went to see what the rest of the world is building, and what we can learn from it.”
A Trip to Learn, Not to Sell
Unlike our usual exhibitions, Tarasvat wasn’t exhibiting at ITMA ASIA + CITME — this was purely an exploratory visit, made possible through SGCCI’s delegation program. Walking the floor alongside other Indian textile businesses gave our CEO a firsthand look at the latest global technology, manufacturing trends, and innovations shaping the industry we work in every day.
A Genuinely Valuable Experience
It was, by all accounts, a very good experience — one that offered a broader view of where the global textile machinery industry is headed, and fresh perspective to bring back home. Trips like this one, made possible through SGCCI’s ongoing support, continue to shape how we think about the future of Tarasvat, even when we’re not the ones on the exhibitor floor.
